Is it just us, or is 2025 going by in the blink of an eye? It might have gone by so fast that you’ve almost forgotten some of the things you set out to achieve this year. In which case, mid-year is a great time to conduct a review of your goals.
Why take the time and effort to do this in your already busy schedule?
If you’re looking at living with more intention and truly want to make some amazing things happen this year, then investing your time in a Mid-Year Review is priceless.
You will save yourself time in the long run by giving yourself an opportunity to check in, recommit or pivot on your goals.
STEPS TO CONDUCT YOUR OWN MID YEAR REVIEW
1. Set yourself up for reviewing and dreaming
Collect the items you need for the review. This may include:
- Your planner and calendar,
- Your journal or place to take notes,
- Your vision board if you have one,
- Your goals.
Then create a space for yourself that is conducive to turning inwards and dreaming. You may want to:
- Wear something that feels luxurious and comfortable,
- Light a candle, put on some music, add a favourite scent to your diffuser,
- Do a short meditation to get you present and open,
- Set an intention for the review. Your intention is about how you want the experience to be and the outcome you are after. For example, “I will be compassionate to myself as I review my year and feel clear and inspired to take action on completion.” or “I will focus on the positive lessons and create a clear plan for the second half of 2025.”
2. Reflect on your 2025 so far
This exercise is not about beating yourself up for what you’ve not done, or about how long things are taking. Life happens!
This exercise is about checking in with yourself, learning and growing, and giving yourself permission to change things.
Want to live a life that makes you excited? Our LH Planners use our Dream | Define | Do framework, based on proven mindset and productivity research, so we know it will help you achieve what you put your mind to!
Firstly, go through each month in your planner or calendar. Make note of the highlights and challenges for each month.
Then read over the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year.
With your highlights, challenges and goals top of mind, ask yourself:
- Which goals have you been making progress with?
- Which goals have you NOT been making progress with?
- What challenges happened? How did you deal with them?
- What are you proud of yourself for?
- Has anything significantly changed for you? Priorities, focus, opportunities?
3. Read your personal values, life vision, definition of success, strengths and skills
Remind yourself of who you are, where you are heading and what is important to you. Remember your strengths, skills and interests.
These are the filters with which you can make more aligned decisions and navigate the world.
Keep these in mind when you are redefining your goals and actions in the next steps.
If you don’t clearly know what these things are in your life, we may have something in the works for you! Make sure you are on our newsletter list to be notified about our upcoming, life-changing course that will help you get clear on your values, success, dreams and goals.
4. Redefine your Goals
Redefine, recommit or release your goals.
- Which goals are still exciting and relevant to me? Recommit to these.
- Which goals are still exciting and relevant to me, but need some serious adjustments done? Redefine these.
- Are there any new goals I have uncovered? Create these.
- Which goals am I ready to let go of as they no longer serve me or what is important now? Release these (or postpone them).
5. Refine or Create your plan
Action is where the magic of the goals happen. A goal is just a dream without actually doing something about it!
Sometimes the goal is still exciting and relevant, but it has been challenging to progress. Here, keep that wonderful align goal and just tweak your strategy or approach..
Brainstorm any new steps, milestones or approaches for each goal.
Schedule these in your planner and calendar.
6. Show Up, Review and Celebrate!
Show up for the actions you have planned and do them. Keep in mind your reasons behind the goal to ensure you stay fueled and motivated for it.
Review your goals regularly to check in and recalibrate if needed.
Celebrate your milestones and achievements. This will encourage you to continue progress and give you confidence in your other goals too. Don’t skip this step.
